We love the relationships we have with our patients – we make every effort to spend time providing personalized treatment recommendations, and prioritize excellent care performed with high quality and reliable materials. Our goal is that you leave our office each time not only healthier, but happy that you stopped by.
Recently, Soonercare has made the decision to move to a managed care plan for dental. What does this mean? Beginning in February 2024, an organization will provide dental benefits for Soonercare members. This would require our office to join 2 new networks as well as accept the decreased reimbursement rate. As a small business, a decrease in the already low reimbursement rate would be devastating to our patient care. As we are not receiving discounts from our suppliers or dental lab, and there being significant price increases on high demand products such as personal protective equipment and dental products, our only option to stay afloat would be to restructure our patient care philosophy in a detrimental fashion. This would include purchasing cheaper materials, as well as cutting back on the time we are able to spend with each of you.
This has forced a difficult dilemma on our office as well as all other dental offices in network with Soonercare. We have made the decision as an office that we are not willing to sacrifice our customer service, standard of care, and clinical excellence, and that we cannot afford as a team to work harder for less. We would have been happy to continue our relationship with your insurance if they had kept their fees the same or increased to keep up with inflation, but because of this change, the most logical decision was to be out-of-network with Soonercare. This means that we will continue to see you and all of our patients who have Soonercare, but will be unable to file claims with Soonercare. Soonercare only pays in-network, therefore any services rendered will be self-pay. This will go into effect beginning February 1st 2024.
We hope that you understand our rationale behind this decision, and that you choose to continue your dental care with us. We are happy to answer any questions you may have about what this change means for you by phone or in person, and we are looking forward to continuing to provide you with the best dental experience possible.
Sincerely,
Sara Bassett D.D.S
